Cathy is a finance specialist with investment banking, venture capital, and angel investment experience. Highly effective in identifying key issues with penetrating questions, Cathy’s incisive analysis brings clarity to organizational challenges.

Cathy’s professional career in investment banking and venture capital honed her expertise in shaping joint ventures, structuring and negotiating mergers & acquisitions, perfecting equity and debt financings, and investing in startup companies. She has worked at senior levels inside operating companies in financial planning & analysis, fund-raising, and acquisitions. With her broad perspectives on the entire food chain of capital markets, from first-round angel funding through public offerings, Cathy has advised clients on finance and M&A strategy in the technology, internet-retail, channel distribution and real estate sectors, having closed deals ranging from $5 million to $100 million of financing, and $5 million to over $1 billion in M&A.

Cathy is an active angel investor and a member of the Keiretsu Forum, where she also serves on the Due Diligence Process Committee. Cathy is a frequent speaker about the necessary ingredients for startup success, important angel investing considerations and ways to manage the due diligence phase of an investment process. 

Cathy received her BS – Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and her MBA from UC Berkeley Haas Business School.

Earl has over 35 years’ experience in general management and managing research, development, and engineering. He has conceived and grown new businesses and brought a variety of advanced technologies to market. Dr. Sacerdoti has spent 20 years operating The Copernican Group, an affiliation of management and technical consultants focused on making applications of advanced software technology practical. His clients have included Apple, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Pacific Bell, Schlumberger, and numerous startups. His recent work includes collaborating on business plans, setting development plans, recruiting staff, conceiving products, managing product development and product marketing, developing and managing patent portfolios, negotiating distribution agreements, and mentoring executive staff. 

He is a co-founder of Symantec, held bottom-line responsibility for a top-200 software products business through its IPO, and has held executive positions at Apple, a wide variety of software vendors, and a medical device company. He has served on the Board of Directors of six companies. Earl is co-chair of the Software Committee for the Keiretsu Forum.  He earned a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University and a BA in Psychology from Yale. He has five issued and four pending US patents

Phil has over 30 years of experience in selling and delivering technology solutions to Fortune 100 companies. He has held executive and founder roles at a four successful start-ups: Seer Technology, Netigy, MidEdge and Vitria.  He founded the consulting services group for Symantec, created the first international consulting group for Business Objects, and helped manage a billion dollar IT outsourcing engagement. Phil has had sales quota responsibility over his entire career, and is currently helping companies drive significant revenue growth through increased sales effectiveness.

Additionally, Phil works with start-ups on strategy, business plans, and fund raising. As co-chair of Keiretsu Forum’s Software Group, he participates in the evaluation of over a hundred companies each year, with dozens of start-ups receiving Series “A” funding. He serves on the boards of Compli, a SaaS software company, and Blue Buzz, a cutting edge internet start-up focused on Search Engine Optimization with automated news aggregation.

Phil has a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
