Problem

The company had announced a next-generation product for delivery at year-end. After 11 months of development, the project was overstaffed but undermanaged, and the product was 18 months from completion.  

Solution

We worked with marketing, sales, and technical management to develop a minimal set of features that served the immediate needs of customers. We split the staff into 3 project teams; one finished the announced product, one created a much simpler product to be sold at a much lower price point, and one created a training package that included the simple product,

Results

The announced product and the simplified one were released within 7 months. The training package was released one month later. Over the next year, sales grew to a $5 million run rate, enabling the company to go public with a valuation at the sales multiple of a software product vendor.
